So it looks like the season is over... Only 6 weeks long, you just get into it... and it's done. It's not like football. 2-3 months is a lot more. When football ends, you are sad but you feel like you've run a race. When softball ends, it feels like you still want to go for 2 more weeks.
Will I be selected for postseason? I am not one of those top div-1 umpires yet. I look at the top d-1 guys and know I am not one of them. However, I look at the d-3 guys, and feel I am one of the better d-3 umps out there. I do not want nor expect to do the championships or semi's, but I want to at least do some meaningless 1st round d-3 blow-out. I want to say I was selected for the "states."
Did I make a mistake going with the assignor I chose?
I needed to give him a chance since the last two years have been wash-outs (surgery and then locking myself into AP games).
So what do I do next year?
He does not do the selecting, yet I will blame him if I am not selected. Too many d-1 JV games and not enough d-3 varsity.
This week, I find out.
Is my season over... or does it get extended that one more game... ?
