Had a good day today...
Did a good thing...
Got a compliment the complimenter will not fully understand the depth of importance of...
Strugggling, slightly disapointing student. Panicking. Final Exam tomorrow. I stayed after school today and we spent 1:45 reviewing everything from the semester. Even spent time going over how to study for a final, and how not to. (Work in bursts, take breaks, outline material, switch back and forth between 2 subjects, go to bed at normal time, last hour of evening is spent reviewing what you know, not learning anything new. You can not learn enough to get a 100% in one night, but you can reinforce enough to assure an 80%.
We went over the map... area by area... 20th C World History.
She came to an amazing revelation... I asked her when her father left Cuba... she said when he was 7-8 years old. I asked her when he was born... she said 1951... I asked her when Castro came to power... she said 1959... I asked her how old her Dad was when Castro took power... her jaw dropped... 7-8 years old...... All this time... and it had never quite hit her 1+1=2
She and Dad will probably have an interesting conversation sometime soon.
All teachers get yearbooks. I leave mine out and students may sign it if they wish. One former student who hangs out in my room all the time wrote, "Thank you for making your room into the perfect slot for the odd-shaped puzzle piece to fit."
That was a wonderful compliment... I will think about that compliment for a while.
Still coughing from the plague... but life has a nice purpose.
