Good sports weekend
Oct. 20th, 2003 10:50 pmWell... after recovering from the Sox Thursday, I had a great sports weekend. (Side note: I am a Bostonian and I love the Sox, but Boston turn nasty way to quickly. If Boston had lost to Oakland... or lost game 6 vs NY, would anyone be calling for Little's firing?!?)
Did a good job officiating Saturday. Hall-of-Famer Jon Hannah is coaching one of the teams I reffed for. He's a character, lots of fun. :-)
Watched Bruins come-from-behind Saturday night and then caught end of come-back-overtime-win Sunday night. They are now coached by someone I went to college with, so it's kind of wierd. He was one of the nicest guys and I was so worried that, with the lack of talent the Bruins have in net and on D, Mike would take heat as the coach. I am way too biased now when I watch them. :-)
Sunday night, played what I am told was one of the best hockey games (if not the best) I'd ever played.
One goal which was ok.
One assist after a fore-check steal and feed to teammate.
Split the D for another good shot.
Broke in weak side before getting stuffed by goalie on what was almost another goal.
Killed a penalty very effectively.
Moved puck through neutral zone and up ice very well all night.
Quotes:
From goalie: Geez, what'd you get... Rocket-boosters on your skates?
From ref: Hey, you lose weight? This is the best I've ever seen you skate?
From Rach: Best game you have EVER played!
From teammate (we usually bust on each other): Dude, I saw it with my own eyes... and I STILL don't believe it!
From my linemate (we are usually supportive and analyze everything): You get laid tonight?
:-)
Finally, reffed a good game of football today. :-)
Side note: legs sore......
